Not sure if you can still by this cooler now htough.
those temps are with quite a few case fans and decent case cooling though, yeah?
i have a scythe mine and my temps are about 10'C higher @ idle and load than yours are, but my case cooling isn't all that great tbh.

still though, 3.6GHz and not touching 55'C is still very good.

I agree with Blitzen assuming you don't bump the voltage up too much. Although Intel states the range being up to 1.5v I wouldn't recommend going anywhere near this using a stock cooler. At 3-3.2GHz and stock voltage it gets rather toasty with a stock cooler and high loads.

If you want to be safe (on a stock HSF) don't touch the voltage and see how far you can push it before it becomes unstable. You would be very unlucky if you did any damage to the CPU doing this.

I always take (out of context) temperature readings with a grain of salt. Ambient temperature as we know can make a huge difference. The temperature of my system can increase by 10C+ depending on whether the wife is home - She likes the place very warm and toasty.

Absolutely...i dont get those temps all year round.

In the summer months, load is around 53-58c
In the winter months (around now) 43-48c

    Re: Overclocking And Warranty

With the stock cooler the CPU on all cores give or take 1c is about 32c, no idea what is under load, will try a stress test.

    Re: Overclocking And Warranty

With any new CPU first run it stock speed and stock cooler to check it works properly, choose your stress programs and run them for many hours. This was any faulty/DOA item can be returned with no dispute to the validity of your warranty.

After this increase the speed in small steps and monitor the temps and results, if things dont look or feel right then stop!
