    Re: Thanks Scan

Scythe Quiet drive is quite something, intended for my WD Raptor 74GB, its rather high pitched whining and very audible drive seeks, since its an OS drive the seeks are heard every few seconds.

Rather worried about the cooling, its completely enclosed without any fins on the casing, however idle temp has dropped from 32C to 27C*, the seeks are still audible however volume has dropped dramatically down to a non-annoying status, and further more due to it being completely enclosed and some foam layering internally the whining has disappeared.

Not without its faults though, it is very long when fitted in the 5.25" drive bay but on the SATA power/data dongle the SATA data cable fits very loosely and while it will fit and stay its prone to disconnecting if nudged.

    Overall very pleased.

    * the temperature was already quite low due to the front 230mm intake cooling it, and now its fully enclosed and pseudo passive cooled yet still maintaining a lower temp, so important if you're worried about cooling.

edit - haha scrap that, idle has risen to 34C since I gave it some heavy load, still very good for passive and everything else still applies
