    Oh Dear.

    http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...und-speed.html

    Scan wrote:-

"The technician whom tested your card stated on the report that the high pitched noise you were reporting was the sound of the air going into the fan"

    Then Scan wrote

"an Inductor that causes it at certain frequencies"

    and in the same post

    "Air rushing into the fan"

So first it's the air, then it's an inductor, then it's the air again!! Scan 'customer services' also do the lottery, but at least with the lottery you know it is supposed to be a lottery.

All I could hear was the Air rushing into the fan when I set it going again. As already stated by Wes this card has now gone to another customer who isn't complaining of any issues.
That says nothing about an inductor causing the noise, only that the tester knew what he listening for and he did not hear it.

To be hoenst, I don't see what "nightmare" your talking about Gonzo. He rejected an item as he felt it was faulty, returned it to SCAN, they deemed it not to be faulty, what more can SCAN do?

To be honest GoNzo, ever since you had your little arguement/ discussion with SCAN, it seems that whenever you get the chance, you want to stick the boot in SCAN so to speak.

    Re: Oh Dear.

Having had a quick look through the other thread, can't really argue with scan's conclusion. They tested item, not faulty, passed it onto another customer who also says its not faulty.

Maybe the problem was with something else in your PC - I don't know really. But I doubt that if you keep hammering away at the issue with the same argument "it definitely was faulty!!" is going to get you anywhere at all.

Did you *consider* the possibility that you may be wrong? I mean, scan doesn't need to shaft it's customers over £25 - if you were entitled to the full refund they would have given it to you. As with anything, there's a load of random factors:

    - maybe the card DID make a sound but after you sent it back, the journey etc. dislodged something and fixed it
    - maybe scan messed up and tested it wrongly, and the new customer just doesn't know what he's listening for

but really you win some you lose some. Although I think it's more likely you're in the 99% who were sadly mistaken than in the 1% who 'fell through the crack'. Maybe next time you'll be in the 1% who get given double their order by accident, it's all about chance. You had your say, scan had theirs, nothing really else to say!

    Re: Oh Dear.

It's probably too late now, but IMO Scan didn't test it properly. They could have sent the card back to the manufacturer for testing/second opinion. or they could have tested the sound of this card using a db-meter and compared it to another card of the same model... that that would have been proper testing IMO.

nah not every chance i get, and it was one of several incidents i wouldn't associate with a large company, i do my best to avoid scan nowdays as you get much better service elsewere.
i cant be arsed to list there failings.

before you jump to conclusions again all i was doing was pointing out the fact the OP had put a link to the thread when Madafwo commented he hadn't quoted in full

I have read the thread, in full (how else would I have known he hadn't quoted it in full?), however astrok has quoted someone at scan out of context and in doing so made a completely false statement, if someone hadn't clicked the link then they would all jump to the wrong conclusion because of what astrok had said, maybe I was clearing it up for astrok as well because he seems to have not read or understood what Scan have said in the post.
