Hi guys,
I asked for a new laptop hard drive for Christmas and I got it but I've just realised that my laptop is IDE but the hard drive I got from you is SATA. Any chance of getting this refunded? It's still in it's packaging and not been opened.
Hi guys,

you will have to pay the postage back under DSR, or keep it and buy an sata 2.5 caddy and make an external drive out of it and buy the IDE one.

Returning it shouldnt be a problem.
I probably should've said this in my earlier post but I used the returns form already and was told that because it was ordered so long ago (beginning of December), we aren't able to return it hence the post on the forum. I've got the query number if you want it
DSR notification in permanent form within 7 working days (not incl weekend or bank hols)
If its beyond that you have to plead to the retailer who may as a goodwill gesture or may charge restocking or might not take it back at all!
Did you ask them for a drive that works in your laptop and they recommend the wrong fitting to you? Or did you purchase the wrong fitting of you own free will?
If its the latter and beyond 7 working days they have no obligation to replace it, unless it is faulty.
It was just my own error
Just to clarify, the 7-day thing under the Distance Selling regs might be lame (though I don't agree), but either way, it's outside Scan's control. It's legislation. Scan just have to conform to it.
They do, however, voluntarily go a fair bit further than that and other laws require them to. I obviously don't speak for them and can't predict a response in any given case, but they're generally pretty good about this sort of thing, especially if the product is still sealed.
Knowing Scan, i am sure they will sort it out for you.
If I was the shop keeper and I had read all of the above I would of told you to feck off
why not swap it for an ide drive then ?
Hmmm
If you have already spoken to the returns guys theres not an awful lot more I can do
Ill speak with Mark now and see if he can help.
Regards
