    Sharkoon SATA QuickPort Pro Duo

Looks good! Has anyone tested this out? If not, pls can someone from Scan try it out and give us a few comments.
A problem I had with single 3.5" version (which is no longer available on Scan) is that the drives get very hot (50C if I leave it running for a couple of hours). I can only imagine with 2 drives this will be worse!

    Cheers

Re: Sharkoon SATA QuickPort Pro Duo

What drive was it that was reported to run at 50c? What was the room temp also?

I've used the Duo at a mates house and didn't find the disks to be overly hot, but they were Samsung 750's and if I'm honest, it's not meant to be used as a permanent caddy as such, but an easy option for those who wish to swap, change, drag and drop their data around without heading into the case. If you want to run them as external disks and heat is an issue, there are plenty of caddies and enclosures that come with active cooling.

Re: Sharkoon SATA QuickPort Pro Duo

Can't remember which drive, think it was a 500GB WD AAKS, or it could have been a 250GB WD. They normally run quite cool when inside a PC case. The drives were connected for a couple of hours and they were active for quite a lot of that time.

Yeh that is true, I don't want to use it 24/7 as a permanent solution, just for a few hours at a time to copy a few 100gb around.

If it hits today only I might go for it
(And David, don't tell me to use the email in your sig, everytime that I have done that, I get offered a higher price - I find forum hints are more effective )

Re: Sharkoon SATA QuickPort Pro Duo

he seems to talk a lot but no 'action'!!!!
we want to see them running with temp probes in there

you could run one of those veho usb fans over it if you are worried about temps, i have a single disk one of thse pods and considered that if I want to access the drive for any length of time, some do get warmer than others. The WD green drives are the coolest to use in the pod that I found so far, cooler to touch than seagate, hitachi and samsung anyway (sorry no probe reading nor video either)
