    Faulty 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Ram - RMA

    Hi Guys

I have randomly been getting BSOD especially when i have been gaming. I recently ran MemTest yesterday and it had found 47 errors:

    - Tested with Memtest86, found errors as well.
    - Item: 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 PC2
    - Purchase date from scan: 02/07/08
    - Invoice E1101387
    - Everything is set to auto in my bios settings for my memory

    - I have been advised the best way to get this sorted is through Scan.
    - - I did use the following link on your website (http://web6.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Suppor...px?QueryType=R) yesterday but no one has contacted me yet. When will someone contact me?
    - The reason for my urgency is that I work from home & really need something sorting out urgently.
    - if there anything u need me to do, please let me know.

    Thanks

update: we are now coming onto the THIRD day and no one has still contacted me.

Re: Faulty 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Ram - RMA

I can see the issue, this request for an RMA was tagged along to a query you created back on the 09/07/2008 and was in the wrong area.

I've moved this to the returns team and they will deal with the accordingly.

    Best Regards,

Re: Faulty 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Ram - RMA

Probably a bit late but avoid testing memory in windows. It may be able to pick up some, but not all errors due to it being in use at the time. Grab memtest86 bootable floppy/usb and load it natively rather than through windows.

But of course if it's faulty, it's faulty

Fail. Memtest in windows is better for testing 4gb+ ram since it doesn't have the 32bit limitation that memtest86 has. This memtest in windows can fail in minutes, but pass for hours in memtest86

Zak edit: SiM, that was actualy quite harsh, to be fair. Besides, better advice might have been to test each stick individually with Memtest86 so as to not exceed 2 gig. Either way, I think you were quite rude. See me after class pls

Its ok lads i failed to mention that i have used both Memtest86 (boot) & Memtest (in windows), both had errors on the one faulty stick of ram.

    Thanks

Fair play but on a 4gb system that's not too much of an issue.

I do wish people would stop talking out of their arse with stuff like "fail" though, unnecessary and worse even than text speak on forums :| It was only a suggestion and a very appropriate one. It is however worth noting they are currently developing a version of Memtest to cover this exact issue, lets hope it arrives soon

Sorry if the F41L offended you. But you should chill... search how many times I have said fail on these forums - you shouldn't take it personally. You never know, an extra definition for "fail" might appear in the dictionary soon
