    RMA'ing an Enermax PSU

I'm just about to send back a Enermax 500 Liberty PSU to scan, that for no reason just gave up after 2 years (3yr warranty) faithful service. And was wondering how long this process is likely to take, seeing as I carn't do much without it. Is it likely to take days/weeks or god forbid months?

    Hi Earlstreetblue,

Sorry I didn't get around to this thread sooner

Checking the Enermax site, it states a 3yr warranty offered by the vendor (Scan). Give our Returns team a call tomorrow and we'll see what we can do for you.

If the unit has to be sent to manufacturers, you're looking at 28 days thereabouts for a repair.

Give us a shout tomorrow and we'll sort you out as best we can.

    Re: RMA'ing an Enermax PSU

    Thanks LeeP
I have sent it to scan, and according to Parcelforce a Mr Patel signed for it this morning at 9am. So will I know by the end of the day what the score with it is going to be. I thought Scan would just have to check that it indeed was knackered, and that you would send out a replacement. 28 days seems a long time to wait for something as important as a PSU.

    Re: RMA'ing an Enermax PSU

Can someone at scan tell me what's going on with this rma, because I have tried this morning to log on, to view the status, but its not letting me. I have used the correct login info, so must be a problem at scans end.

    Re: RMA'ing an Enermax PSU

    Hi Earlstreetblue

Please PM the invoice and or RMA number to me and I shall chase this up where possible. Please bear in mind that we strive to complete all returns within 28 days from receipt of the goods. We do try to be faster but when dealing with manufacturers who may need to repair the goods, this can take us to the full 28 day timeframe.

    Best regards

    Hi Earlstreetblue,

Unfortunately this item has not been tested yet. However, I have sent requests through to the testing team, asking that if at all possible can they treat this with priority. I'll update you when I have further information.

You know what! I saw this post and I had to register and comment, I also had to send the same PSU as you back to scan it stopped working after 2years and 1 month, sent it today got the RMA so now it's just a waiting game, I guess.

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for delivery? I paid £20.70 for next day delivery! It's almost 1/3 of the price of the PSU itself! Couldn't believe it when the cashier at the post office said it. Almost not worth sending back because of the cost, as we don't get a refund on that!

I had to RMA my brand new Enermax a couple of years ago because it had a defective fan, I really don't think the customer should have to pay the return postage. I think it is bad enough that you have been sent a defective unit in the first place and then YOU have to pay to send it back ? It's like being bitten twice for no fault of your own.
Thinking back on it, I wished I'd just replaced the fan myself - It would have been cheaper!

Around £10, did think about wether to send it or not, but thought it was worth it.

I really don't think the customer should have to pay the return postage.
I think that applies to all of us who have to send stuff back. Rearly depends on what it worth I suppose, if its an expensive, small item, them maybe worth the extra. But at the end of the day we all have a choice.

If you are sure of a fault and the warranty is inside the period being dealt with by Scan, then can you not ask Scan to arrange collection of the item?

It's true that it feels like a double bite, but wasn't really complaining about scan RMA procedure, in the past they generally paid the postage back if the product found faulty, and not due to my noob skills that being said i did test it to make sure it was defective, which in all my tests it was. In this case i was shocked how much it cost to send back, hadn't RMA anything for a few years "knock wood". So do they still pay back the postage fees back if item found faulty?
In regards to fixing it myself, i tend to do this if it's out of warranty, fixed a mobo recently as it was out of warranty.

Definitely worth sending back, £10 i just noticed on royal mail site i could've been offered that amount also, but the cashier said that was the cheapest that would be with the insurance to cover it. Oh well. you learn to live!

My PSU was received by someone yesterday at scan but on the RMA tracking it does not show as received, does anyone know how long it takes before it shows on the site?
