Samsung SH-203 warranty

hi i brought this from scan on the 2nd July 2007, and it has just broken.
I smelt a burning smell from my pc, and located it after alot of sniffing to the optical drive.


Is there still a warranty on this item, or was it just covered by the 1 year warranty?

Looking at the other samsung drives they have 12 months.

Even if they had 3 years.. I would be inclined to buy a new one anyway, after you factor in postage, the approx 3 weeks waiting and time spent sorting it.

I think the optical drives must be the cheapest components in pc's. A faster sata replacement samsung drive from the today only page is £13.79. A no brainer really.
Although I personally vouch for the Pioneer DVR-216DBK which is a couple of quid more.

yeah i may get a new one, but it depends what scan say on monday.
I can see blackbadgers point, but i am in no hurry in needing an optical drive.

This is a 12month warranty drive and as the gents suggested, fastest turnaround is to purchase a new one from the TodayOnly page before it updates tomorrow around mid-day.
