The supplier is quoting the 25th for this I believe.

Mmm. I quite like the 110. Supposedly much better than my Pinnacle Showcentre. I'll be looking out for this one.

I have the A-100, its a great piece of kit with a very active community. Also, the makers are slowly releasing bit and pieces to the community, allowing them to hack away and increase the functionality.

The popcorn is good and I love how it decodes DTS audio, however I found the picture quality isnt quite up to scratch when compared to the Netgear EVA 8000. I'm waiting for the new EVA 9150

Yeah, Chris but the Popcorn (and TBH, my Showcentre) will play damn near anything you throw at it. The Netgear doesn't have quite that reputation.

After reading up about it, it seems theres is alot of people backing the popcorn with regards to firmware/tweaks etc. I am really looking forward to it...ordered the 1.5TB seagate to go with it, so plenty of space for films on the device as well as streaming...

The thing is, my HP mediavault has errors with my ps3 with streaming. I'm hoping it doesn't have errors with the popcorn otherwise i will be forced to get a Qnap!!

That is true of the EVA 8000, but you have to remember this is 2 Years old, it can't play some 1080p MKV's that have a high bitrate ( + 11 Mbit ) but the new 9150 promises a supported bitrate of 50 Mbit, which is the same as the Popcorn Hour A-110.

The Popcorn is still ane excellent unit and highly recommened, but there are other manufacturers releases new media streamers soon, so the choice is increasing, which is good.

And of course with DLNA TV's coming on stream (if you'll pardon the pun) the range of choice just gets wider and wider. DLNA isn't much good if, like me, you're limited to a 32 inch screen. The smallest I've seen so far is 40 inches.
Oh and the other thing that's worth saying. Forget wireless for these things. It just isn't good enough. Homeplug (or other brand equivalent) will work if your wiring is modern, but nothing beats a stretch of Cat5!

Cat5 is king , the new EVA 9150 will have Wirless N, however I'll stil be using cat5 and most definately not the homeplugs, I've tested and they are not good when streaming 1080p MKV's through them.

Indeed, Chris. It won't be long before we need gigabit connections between the server and the device!

Meantime, back at the topic... I'm SO tempted by the A110, but the missus would kill me! She'd want to know why I bought it when we already have a Pinnacle Showcentre and I@m not sure I can come up with a good answer.

I use Devolo dLAN 200 AVeasy Homeplugs from my QNAP server to a PS3 or laptop and 1080p MKV's* streams fine. Upload & download speeds show at 90-110 compared to 100ethernet wired standard.

    * In the case of the PS3, MKVtoVOB used to play MKV's

My Devolo dLAN 200 AVeasy Homeplug has some horrid latency issues.

Homeplug can be flakey too. It's running over network infrastructure that really isn't designed to carry data. It's largely dependent on th quality of your wiring.
