    I'd rather doubt it somehow. Obviously, it's Scan's choice and it's a commercial decision, and I certainly don't speak for them, but if they did start doing that, my guess would be that people it was done to may well react simply by choosing to shop elsewhere.

    I've been as vocal as anyone, and perhaps more than most, in my views on the opt-out nature of Scansure, but I've seen nothing from Scan, on this subject or in the past, that suggests they would take that attitude.

    I think we ought to wait until they start doing that before begging trouble by worrying about it, because I suspect it'll be long wait.

    If there was one round here, I would. I have been known to buy several large packets, and repackage it into sizes I want before freezing it. But driving a long way for a small packet of mince simply isn't worthwhile.

    But seriously, it's a pet gripe of mine, I live in a decent size town. Butchers? None.

    My in-laws live in a fairly small village. Butchers? Two.

    Grrrrrr.

    But ..... we have what we deserve. If people used small, independent shops, whether butchers or not, they would almost all have closed down. I am not a supermarket fan. Mainly, I use Waitrose, because they're better than most. I haven't set foot in Tescos in several years, and only in Sainsburys a handful of times.

    Waitrose aren't necessarily cheap but, for a supermarket, my opinion is that quality of produce is better, and often, much better. To a point, you pay for that. Also, for a large company, I support Waitrose (and John Lewis) sense of business ethics. Tesco? Well, 'nuff said.

    Rabbid, I've been a Scan customer for what must be 10 years now. If I didn't trust them enough with my money and that of whoever I recommend, they simply wouldn't be getting the custom. Despite a couple of bad run-ins in the early days, they keep improving; customer support is a damn sight better nowadays especially with being here on the boards.

    While I don't like the way Scansure has been implemented, (on a couple of recent - multplie items - orders it wasn't entirely clear which items in my basket were covered, but I'll admit I didn't spend a lot of time checking as the service wasn't required) I honestly can't see them doing anything underhand to jeopardise that trust. So until that trust as been broken, I'll continue to shop with them - I don't see the point in jumping to unfounded conclusions.
    My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

    scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

    I did ask Lee as I would like to spend my money with Scan as I have always had good service.
    the only biggy was the GFC card as one of your competitors was quite a bit cheaper, but mind you if I had waited you would have probably come down to their price, as other products have moved since I started looking.
    I did save money but have to wait nearly a week for the monitor and my case is still in packing after two days of ordering it, lesson learned.

    Opt out needs replaced with opt in and per item not per basket.

    Its simply not fair otherwise, and this is coming from someone who ended up buying it by accident, i assumed (wrongly) that as i had not chosen it as an option it did not apply to me.
    I only realised afterwards when i recieved the KFI email that i had paid for it.

    I dont care too much this time but i would prefer the option to choose it for the components i want to insure not the whole basket.

    I think this is the preferred option of everyone, I think cost would increase due to reasons I mentioned in my earlier post, if the insurance company agrred to it?

    Personally I think the insurance is a great idea, luckily I havent damaged any parts yet (touch wood) so not too sure if I would insure a basket for myself but if I was ordering parts for clients machines then its good for piece of mind.

    Well its work the cost to insura against accidental damage. Bought a mobo and processor and paid for the insurance £400 is a lot to be out of pocket for a moment of carelessness.

    And some of us are over familiar with having to opt out, then confirm we have opted out on every order we make.

    It gets annoying.

    But then so does the fact that the website doesn't remember any credit card details. Thats a pain in the back side too.

    And you can't set a default delivery address, it always returns to your billing address.

    And you can't edit your delivery addresses from your account page, that has to be done while in the checkout process.

    OK, So I just read through this thread:

    It's a nice idea, the comments on the implementation I'm not going to go over - there's not much point.

    But like I said it's a nice idea, and since I've not built a PC from scratch since SDRAM days, my general upgrading cycles will use scansure for high value components just in case. That said if I were to buy masses of stuff the basket-policy would irritate me, but that issue's been dealt with.

    In general, nice idea Scan. :generic thumbs up:

    I have passed your feedback onto the relevant dept; I can't see Card Details ever being saved as this is one of the security features we have purposely created. However maybe the alternative delivery address could be saved....
