    Hmm I have a problem

OK the other day my PC went bang.
I thought it was the PSU so replaced that but the thing was still dead.
So last night I decided to purchase parts to upgrade the thing
    I ordered
    Asus P5QL-E
    Q9550
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2, PC2-8500 (1066), 240Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-15, EPP

Now I did this somewhat hastily and I didn't cross check the QVL for RAM at ASUS.

On reading the downloaded manual for the P5QL-E I see that this RAM is not on the QVL and also it specifically states in the manual that modules made up of 128M chips are not supported....

Is it too late to do anything different?
Do you stock any of the 2x2Gb RAM modules listed on the QVL?

Re: Hmm I have a problem

    Gibbo,

    Not each and every brand of memory can be tested and evaluated at the time the motherboard is tested. There are many reasons for this and this includes the following reasons ;

Which memory is available locally when testing the motherboards.
Which memory was actually made when the motherboard was first tested.

As such, even though most the corsair isn't listed in some of the QVL sections of the motherboard manuals, they should be fine as they adhere to the JEDEC specifications

    Best Regards,

Re: Hmm I have a problem

    Thanks for that.

I suppose I am just having pre part arrival angst - you know that time when you've done something and you're not sure you've done the right thing....

I did stay up half the night and managed to research a few aspects - I was this close to buying the P5Q SE until i noticed that my cooler (Noctua NHU12F) wouldn't fit in my desired orientation......

I really hate rushing speccing up a PC and buying it.
That's precisely what I did last might......

    Fingers crossed!!

Edit: I understand what you say about testing what's available etc but what has me worried is the statement that modules made up from 128M chips are specifically not supported which I discovered on page 2-12 of the manual.
