    ScanSure Issue

    Back to this old chestnut.

Basically, you say your site is supposed to remember your previous choice of ScanSure or no ScanSure. Well it doesn't. Not for me anyway.

Order placed last week and there was definitely no ScanSure on that. Order placed tonight, and what do you know, it's selected by default again.

It's just as well I can't get some of these parts easily else where or the whole order would have been cancelled.

I am incredibly glad I didn't take your word for it that my previous selection would be remembered and made sure ScanSure was turned off. Otherwise I would have stopped the transaction with my credit card.

Next time I won't be so forgiving.

Didn't remember it for me either, but at least I had it in my mind to check after all the posts on here.
It quickly gets annoying to have to turn it off, are you sure.. each time

    Funkstar

Simple error, we will correct ASAP.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, as far as I have been told the options should be remembered.

    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

I have confirmed the "should" to facts now.

I can confirm that this will always be an opt in opt outy, the option is not remembered at a cookie level or account level at any time.

    Regards

I did exactly same thing as the op

It used to remember, at least we have conformation that scan have moved the goal posts.

They deserve all the stick they get for this 'service'

I was very happy with scan before.

I still am happy with scan but this whole thing is just annoying I have zero interest in this product.

If this is the case, then it proves you don't listen to your customers. I feel the same way as everyone else above. This should be an account level preference so we can opt out for good.

I have literally spent £1,000s with you in the past and apart from this ScanSure crap I have been very happy. I don't want to take my custom elsewhere, but I will if I have to.

I suspect I'm not the only one getting a bit confused. I thought it was opt-out, but that if you did, the fact that you had opted out was remembered. I certainly remember people speculating and/or saying it was via cookie, but I don't remember Scan confirming or denying that. I also remember querying if this was by cookie, because if it is, there's a series of situations that would lead to the "memory" being lost, or at an account level.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying there, Chris.

    Surely it's either :=

    1) Opt out
    2) Opt in
    3) No option is selected and the user must pick before proceeding.

Am I correct in thinking you're using 1)?

Next, does a user's choice get remembered, or do they have to select each time?

Lastly, if that option is remembered, by what mechanism? Cookie, account level setting or something else? The reason I ask is that if it's via cookie, I need to know when it won't be remembered, such as when using another machine or browser.

    Re: ScanSure Issue

As a courtesy to your customers it SHOULD be:

    3) No option is selected and the user must pick before proceeding.

That is real easy to code.

    Re: ScanSure Issue

Indeed. Scan's PR people really need to reign in the accountants. Whether they are or not, this looks like Scan trying to make a couple of sales to the unwary and that's really very poor form indeed.

    Re: ScanSure Issue

This was discussed at length in another thread and I voiced my disgust at this particular policy. Scan are really screwing themselves over here for a potential few quid. I warned them then that they would get a barrage of complaints regarding this poor service but I guess profit more important...

    Re: ScanSure Issue

To clarify it was suggested that when a customer opted out of Scansure then their choice would be remembered for future order's. Today we confirmed that this is not the case (Also has not been a feature at any point). A customer that does not wish to continue with the Scansure insurance would have to Opt out every time they order and their choice will not be remembered.

We have listened to all of the points raised, other than the "Choice being remembered" there is nothing new that can be discussed that has not already. The decision has been made and will not change.

I'm locking the thread because otherwise the same points that have been raised and considered will continue to be re-iterated and as we have already confirmed after taking on board these comments the Scansure process will stay the same purely as Opt out for reasons already explained, including ........

    1) Clearly advertised
    2) Opting out is very easy ( 2 click process )

This thread was only to confirm if the choice we would be remembered, which has been answered.

    Regards
