Question: 450W Be Quiet Dark Power PRO BN071 - RPM Control

Hi, I just bought a 450W Be Quiet Dark Power PRO BN071 PSU from scan a couple of days ago. Im putting together a HTPC atm and need some advice about this PSU.

It has a 3 pin cable which is referred to as "RPM Control" and also as "Tachosignal" in the PSU manual. I know this is somehow linked to the case fans and controls them, but where do I plug this cable in?

Im thinking it either goes in to the "chassis fan" or "power fan" socket on the motherboard. However, in the PSU manual it doesnt say anything about what to do with this cable or what it actually does. I dont want to risk plugging it on to my motherboard when Im not sure.

The only thing in the PSU manual about this cable is the pin layout (see below)

    PSU Pin Layout
    Pin 1: COM
    Pin 2: NA
    Pin 3: RPM

Fan sockets on my motherboard are as follows:

    Motherboard PWR_FAN Pin Layout
    Pin 1: GND
    Pin 2: 12V
    Pin 3: Rotation

    Motherboard CHA_FAN Pin Layout
    Pin 1: GND
    Pin 2: 12V
    Pin 3: Rotation

The wiring for Pin 1 doesnt look right to me. Can anyone confirm its OK to plug this on to the motherboard, or if its meant to be used in another way, how?

    Thanks

PS: I tried the Be Quiet site, but couldnt find the answer there. Although the rest of the site is in English the support page is totally in German

Re: Question: 450W Be Quiet Dark Power PRO BN071 - RPM Control

is a RPM monitor and sits on the power fan socket

there is no 12V as it doesnt control the fan, and common means ground.
