    Silver DVD-RW SATA drives

    Hi Scan

I'm shocked and dismayed by the fact you don't have *any* silver DVD-RW SATA drives for sale. Coincidently, your free delivering competitor doesn't have any either!

Is there a shortage of silver paint or is the silver case no longer fashionable?

Any ideas when you’ll have silver drives again?

    Cheers,

(a few companies do them, scan might be able to get them in)

    or spray the bezel yourself...

I don't have a Lian Li case which those are only compatible with unfortunately, they do look good though.

I did notice the separate silver bezel but the only compatible drive (e.g. the one you linked to) is IDE , I’m after a SATA drive.

Quite. I often wonder why people rave about SATA optical drives. The interface is dozens of times faster than the drive. The only reason I can possibly think of is that the cable is tidier than the old school IDE ribbon.

    Re: Silver DVD-RW SATA drives

SATA only because the cable is easier to manage and tidier, my next build is a small one, the more space I can save the better.

I bought a SATA DVD-RW recently because my old motherboard had 2 IDE ports [4 device support] whereas my new motherboard only had 1 IDE port [2 devices supported] and since I didn't want the hassle of ditching my 2 IDE HDDs it was cheaper and easier to replace the DVD-RW....

There must be plenty of reasons to swap a SATA in for an IDE optical drive.
