    Re: Can you beat this

The RAM kit you listed doesn't really work for AMD its meant for Triple Channel support AMD does Dual Channel.

There is no real need to go DDR3 unless you need to or want too.

I suggest something like these to get a better CPU:

    Intel
    LN24124
    Asus P5QL-E
    LN27181
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400
    LN27633
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800)

    AMD
    LN26421
AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition
    LN27633
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800)
    LN27823
    Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P

    Or DDR3 with that CPU
    LN27738
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS3, DDR3 PC3-10666 (1333)
    LN27822
    Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P

Always useful to state your budget that way it's just much easier to know what would be best.

    Good luck.

    Re: Can you beat this

Just a side note the 550 IMO is a brilliant processor if you're looking to overclock/possibly unlock other cores. I have heard good things also about the 720 also.

I unlocked the other 2 cores and overclocked the 550 to 3.8ghz. Not bad for £75. Obviously you're not guaranteed this but I still think its a great processor.
