Hi,
I just had a look on Scans website and cannot seem to see you stock these.
But I have just over the weekend bought two of the Zalman ZM-2HC2 Passive Hard Drive Coolers and installed one now into my old Celeron PC mATX case.
http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/...ad.asp?idx=134
My reason for wanting one was on this old PC I have a Maxtor 7200 RPM IDE drive in there and the thing runs very noisy and very hot. Around 50c idle upto around 54c under load.
As I was concerned about this a few months back I put a 80mm Fan right underneath the drive to desperately keep it cool so it doesn't break with the heat.
This knocked off around 10 degrees which was ok. However it completely rendered the lower 3.5" bay unusable.
With my main PC out of action I am stuck with this PC as my main one and was wanting to correct this and also free up that unusable lower 3.5" bay so as a Hail Mary I saw some of these Zalmans in a sale for £13 each and bought the last two.
They can be fit in two places either in a 5.25" bay, or better yet you can drill four holes in the edge or bottom of the case and stick the drive there (It cools the top of the drive not the bottom).
I already had a bunch of holes in my case for cooling vents so just stuck it there leaving the 3.5" bays now empty.
Even though it is totally passive it has knocked 20c off the running temps of the drive.
The drive is now not only running much quieter (as it works as a noise dampener) it is also running at 29c Idle and so far 33c under load.. This drop is incredible.![]()
I don't think I need any more at this particular moment as these two should suffice one of my old Pc and the other for my new, but if I did need any more hard drive coolers these are all I will now buy from now on.
So as it is just such a good product I felt I should recommend them to Scan to stock as you would likely do them cheaper than everywhere else.![]()
And also wanted to take this chance to thoroughly recommend people get them for their cases if they need a hard drive cooler.
I dread to think how cool my drive could be if I stuck a fan onto the Zalman too. Probably break the drive by going well below the minimum working temperature for my drive.![]()
