    Asus Q Connector

    Hi,

Would anyone know where I can get hold of a Blue USB header Asus Q Connector for the Asus P5K Premium WiFi motherboard ?

This allows me to connect items like this http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=22185 to my motherboard.

    Thanks,

    Pav

    Re: Asus Q Connector

You don't need it, the Q Connector is designed to make installing USB devices with individual pins easier, but as most things don't have the individual pins anymore they are somewhat pointless. As far as I can remember, this has a single block for the USB connections.

I do need that adapter I'm afraid. The motherboard has 2 x 9 pin USB headers, one of which already has one of these risers / adapters. However, ASUS only ship one with the motherboard.

The item I want to attach to the motherboard has a 4 pin single row set of pins, which is what the adapter allows me to achieve by allowing two of the single row USB connectors to connect to one motherboard USB header.

See the following picture for the item in question. It's the blue one I need.

that block is just a straight pass through connection...

It is exactly the same as just connecting the 2 singles directly to the board...

Hmmm. I've tried that though to no effect. Maybe something else is wrong.

    Re: Asus Q Connector

Yes the Q connector is just something which is supposed to make life easier. You attach all the cables up to the connector before sticking it on the mobo. It will work if you just connect them directly

    Re: Asus Q Connector

Does the "Combo drive" need power if so did you plug it in?

Does the riser card connected to the other usb header work? If so try the "Combo drive" on that usb header.

Might be worth check the bios, may be the 2nd usb header is disabled.

I'll check out the bios once I get the PC back up and running. Currently awaiting a replacement PSU.

    Thanks.
