    Hard drive warranty

    Hi,

I purchased two samsung F3 HD502HJ today, I know the website states oem and so does the samsung website.
Its just a query regarding the 3 years warranty, is that return back to scan?

    Many thanks

    Re: Hard drive warranty

Scan should handle at least 1 year warranty, but Samsung will handle all 3 if needed and are highly efficient last I heard.
OEM is probably an incorrect description as that can imply OEM system builders for which Samsung has much more time limited warranty, retailers should be using "bare-box" or something similar. In this case OEM for HDDs just means bare box with full warranty unless otherwise stated.

    Re: Hard drive warranty

    Samsung website states

Code 103 The product has been brought in from outside of this service region and cannot be serviced. Please contact your reseller or distributor.

Its the reason i am asking.
I presume with scan stating a 3year warranty then any return would be to scan.

I think this was raised not so long ago for certain WD (or maybe seagate) models, Scan responded saying they will honour the warranties of drives not falling under direct manufacturer support.

I assume it will be the same for the other makes too in that situation?
