Please guys give me your opinion

    Hi all

Ok so my corsair hx 620 broke, I arrange rma through scan and they collect, very nice.

I am told that this part is no longer available and that the only suitable replacement is a

    Enermax MODU82+

    Ok I have no problem with enermax but here is my problem;

I paid £110 for the corsair yet the enermax retails for £90, the enermax has a three year warranty and the corsair has a five year warranty.

My instinct tells me this is not fair and that I should not accept this, but I really want to hear other peoples opinion on this just in case I am being unreasonable.

Please please add your opinion on this guys

    many thanks

TBH i think i would prefer the Enermax ...
But at the end of the day it is your call.

Both PSUs are good, i wouldn't put much between them, but the Enermax edges it if i were buying from new now. (i have the HX620 ATM)

For a start they have better quality cables than the Corsair...

How long have you had the PSU? If not long, try and get a refund and buy the Enermax

Re: Please guys give me your opinion

You didn't say how old the Corsair was, kinda funny if it has a warranty that exceeds the availability of the part. I would have thought Corsair should sort out replacing it if it's their warranty and scan can't get stock to replace it for you.

Without knowing the age of the Corsair, if you account for things getting cheaper over their lifetime then is a £20 cheaper PSU that bad an offer from Scan? I'd assume they've tried to pick the one with the closest feature set - wattage, modular etc

In fact loking at their site the Enermax they have offered you is 91.82

The only Corsair in the 425-700w maodular range is the 650HX @ 89.95 which isn't in stock

So i'd say Scan are doing what they think is the best deal for yourself by offering the closest in stock replacement. The new Corsair has a 7 year warranty, if you'd prefer that because the warranty is more important then maybe you can see if Scan will give you that instead when it comes into stock.

I've had an Enermax PSU once before and was very happy with it but i don't have a specific preference for PSUs and have never had a Corsair to comment one way or the other.

Re: Please guys give me your opinion

Enermax are quality units to be honest, if anything usually they are a little bit expensive which I think more people go for the Corsairs and others (not that Corsairs are bad units of course.) I have an Enermax Infiniti in my main PC and I think it's great

I don't think thats a bad offer from scan at all. I'd take it.

thanks very much for the input guys,

I agree that the offer they made was always 'descent' I guess I just went into autopilot expecting a bit more.

To answer the question the corsair was bough 26 Jan

Based on your input I see that I should be happy with the offer and will accept it (funnily I always had a preference for enermax I was just hoping they would let me get one of the revolutions and allow me to pay for the additonal cost)

anyways thanks again, much appreciated : )

I think you have a reasonable swap there. Just because the price is different doesnt change the fact that your getting another quality, modular PSU. If my HX620 failed, I'd be very happy with an Enermax!

Speaking as a geek and not as a scan staffer I'm also very happy with the MODU82.

I use them in the audio range at the moment as they are the quietest psu I think we do currently. My last Enermax has been on pretty much 24/7 the last 5 years and I acturly have a Modu+ fitted to my gaming rig currently with no complaints.
