    Problem authorising card for payment

Hi just had an email for a graphics card I ordered on sunday saying

"Thank you for your order. Unfortunately there has been a problem in authorising your credit card and your payment has been declined."

I've never had a problem before with the debit card I used, and recently ordered off sites like play.com with no problem, I've also got plenty of money in there to cover the purchase of the grapics card I ordered (£41.79 I think).

Any way to find out what's up, or to "re-authorise it". I'd prefer not having to ring up and cause extra expense ;/

Cheers for any help I'll supply any invoice/order numbers via PM to any Scan staff. Not posting that here

[EDIT] I'll try via the Customer Service Query thing which I have just found.

Oooh possibly then, it said everything was fine at the time when I went through the cards website to put in security stuff.

Annoying tbh, First bad experience with scan . They are shut today because it's a bank holiday maybe something to do with it. I had jsut ordered the CPU as well which makes it even more annoying because it's the one part I really need. Any scan staff around to give us a hand?

hi my dad also had this problem when he was buying a router from scan. I checked his emails today and he had the same message "Unfortunately there has been a problem in authorising
your credit card and your payment has been declined." The same card was used to buy goods and electronics from other sites without a problem e.g. he bought a tv from amazon which came a few days ago.

is there a fault with the system?

Re: Problem authorising card for payment

I have also just received this e-mail stating that payment has been declined due to it being unable to authorize?

I have used this card multiple times with this site as well as others and have yet to encounter this problem?

    Shame Scan is shut

May call my Credit Card company (if they are open) to see if they can figure out what went wrong

Re: Problem authorising card for payment

Well it's clearly a problem with scan. I'll just call them tomorrow morning if payment hasn't been accepted, if they can't resolve it by 12 I'm going to be annoyed (If I bother to get up at 9.30 to call them )

Re: Problem authorising card for payment

I'm at work tomorrow. and it'd be a bit difficult for me to make any contact tomorrow. Hopefully as it seems to be a more widespread issue, it'll get fixed quickly when they go back in. I'm kind of relieved it's not just me!

Thumbs up Re: Problem authorising card for payment

Had the same problem just before Christmas (23rd) at Scan and OCUK. Phoned Scan they said it was the credit card company. So I phoned the credit card company and they apologised and released teh funds.
Then I phoned Scan to tell them to retry getting the money which they did. The goods arrived the next day.

    Well done the Scan team.

Re: Problem authorising card for payment

Have just got off the phone with my Credit Card company and they have stated that payment has actually gone through, nothing has been declined on their end. Therefore this does indeed look like an issue with scan not our respective banks etc

Would be really helpful if someone from SCAN could shed any light upon the issue...
