    XFX 5850 Bought Instore

I've purchased an XFX 5850 from Scan in bolton at the weekend after the ASUS 5850, which was showing as instock was actually not in stock.

The card is artficating badly in windows, and having send a technical support message, I was informed I need to contact XFX for an "XFX Returns Reference".

This seems really strange and unfair given that I have not had the item delivered to me.

If I have bought the item instore, am I within my rights to take it back to the store, get them to test it and take it from there?

I would have thought so, certainly within the first week or two

do they mean an xfx reference and then return to scan or for you to deal only with xfx?

your contract is with the retailer so you are legally entitled to return it to whoever sold it to you, that said sometimes it can be faster dealing direct.

as its under 7 days as well, if you nip down and try at the returns desk you should get it seen to

    Re: XFX 5850 Bought Instore

If it's faulty and you're looking for replacement, all you need to do is request a support ticket from XFX.

This is so that the problem is logged with the manufacturer, therefore they can work to resolve this or diagnose a faulty batch out in the wild.

We're not trying to be awkward and in no way would we refuse an RMA for this item - you just need to acquire the ticket number prior to proceeding with the return. Logitech have a similar system.

    Hope this helps
