    Active displayport adapter

I 'upgraded' to an ATI HD5970 graphics card from my dual 8800GTX cards and now can only use two of my three monitors due to the displayport needing an active displayport adapter or a specific displayport monitor.

It's frustrating that I am now relegated to using two monitors as I need three for my work and would rather not fork out for a displayport monitor when I have a perfectly serviceable 30" dual-link DVI monitor waiting to be used here.

I know Sapphire are making their own adapter but I can't see any for sale anywhere.

Any idea when you will be stocking active displayport adapters please?

The description is appalling, but I've had a look on a competitor's website with a better description and the manufacturer codes match up so I think that's the right one.

    Re: Active displayport adapter

However, this does not fit with the 5970 as the graphics card needs a mini displayport adapter.

So I would need an adapter for the adapter.

    That's just rubbish.

I've half a mind to ask for my money back and go back to Nvidia to be honest. ATI have really dropped the ball on this one.

    Highrisedrifter,

I am sure I have seen one or two of these in the building. I shall check if they are available to purchase and update you ASAP.

    Re: Active displayport adapter

I have here with me a few MiniDP to HDMI adaptors, but no DVI's I'm afraid.

Give me a call on 0871 472 4786 if this would be suitable for yourself.

Are you 100% sure that there isn't a mini displayport adaptor in the box for your graphics card? My 5970 came with one.
