    Asus 5850 cu

    Hi
    Can you please confirm if item LN33298 is built on a reference pcb or is is built on a one off version.
    I am looking to purchase two of these depending on there design

    It's not a reference design as the ports at the back have been altered. Why is whether the card is reference or not at all relevant?

    Im sure I read somewhere it is not reference, its a custom by asus, but you can still tweak voltages etc

    it is non reference but using the software you can still overvolt here is a review of the card

    he may want to use a waterblock on it or use MSI afterburner to overvolt

    Did some research into aftermarket air coolers and the general consensus seemed to be that non-reference designs tend to still be compatible as long as there is a reference design for the card, and it's not 'deregulated' like the HD4830, for example. The only HD5870 I imagine would be problematic will be the MSI Lightning due to being a bigger PCB with extra power regulation. However, it's conceivable there may be compatibility issues. Best bet would be to ask the manufacturer of the block. If they don't respond, don't buy from them

    I dont think any 5850 wll fit as the PCB is much longer than ref
