    Configuration of Gigabyte H57M-USB3 motherboard

    Hi,

I have just put a new PC together and have had all sorts of problems with crashes. Does anyone have any experience with a Gigabyte H57M-USB motherboard? I have tried a few things, but would be grateful if anyone has ideas on how to get it to work with Corsair xms3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600.

I have upgraded the bios to the latest version, but I still need to know how best to configure it.

    Many thanks.

If you suspect its the ram, try using just one stick and memtesting individually then together.

probably it will be necessary to make timing and/or voltage adjustments if its not faulty but just unstable.
on GA boards enter the BIOS and press CTRL+F1 then you will be able to see the memory timing entries in the relevant section of your bios (refer to manual)

Set the memory speed manually, see if that helps

Thank you both for your ideas. I've been in bed with food poisoning for the past 2 days, so have not had a chance to try your suggestions. Hopefully I will recover soon and will give them a try.

Re: Configuration of Gigabyte H57M-USB3 motherboard

IIRC on some of the gigabyte boards the 1600 Mhz memory needs to be set manually in the BIOS to run at the 1600 Mhz speeds. If not, it might detect the SPD settings within the memory and run it at the slower 1333 Mhz speed.

    Best Regards,

Make sure the BIOS is up to date. Gigabyte recently released some new ones with higher memory compatibility

Re: Configuration of Gigabyte H57M-USB3 motherboard

Thanks again for all of your comments. It turns out the reason I was having so many problems was due to a faulty memory stick. All running great now thanks!
