Could I please ask what is the model number of the 2TB Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green drive you guys stock please.

Scan Code: LN31417

It mentions WD20EARS.

But is it

WD20EARS-00MVWB0

Or

WD20EARS-00J2GB0

It seems Western digital in May released the first 3 Platter 2TB drives and the only way to identify them from the old 4 platter 2TB is with this daft end bit of manufacturer code that pretty much every PC component retailer does not mention.

Could I also ask if these are not, when you do get the WD20EARS-00MVWB0 in stock could you please mention this in the product page.

As we source our stock from multiple suppliers (currently do have a mixed batch from various suppliers) we have no way of guaranteeing any specific product revisions. However, due to our turnover rate it is likely but not guranteed that you would receive the latest version/revision.

Then two questions,

If I order and get the old could I please send it back as it is not the one wanted?

And

2; is it possible just to reassure if you could grab a random one and see which it is.

On a side note as you guys would likely have the clout for WD to listen to you, can you ask them to stop using such daft naming of their drives so nobody can identify this years models from last years models.

We've currently got roughly four deliveries worth from three separate suppliers on the shelf. It's just not something we can guarantee I'm sorry.
