    Returning a H50?

I had a H50 delivered to my yesterday and I must say, it did not meet my expectations what so ever. I ''upgraded'' from a Xiggy s1283 and I am experiencing on par/slightly worse temps with my H50. I have tried both Exhaust and intake/new paste without much difference, would I be able to return it for a refund?

    Re: Returning a H50?

    Hi,

Unfortunately due to the nature of the product once it has been installed, unless faulty it cannot be returned for a refund.

This is due to the pre-applied thermal compound on the CPU block.

If you would like to speak to a member of our technical support team we can try and assist with any installation issues you may be having that could have an impact on the performance of the cooler.

    Regards

    Re: Returning a H50?

I don't have any installation issues, the cooler is just simply not as good as I thought it was, and certainly not worth the £58 I payed for it. To further add insult to injury, it goes on ''today only'' for £52 the day after I ordered it.

    Re: Returning a H50?

It has always been my understanding that these all in one liquid cooling products are never any where near as good as a self built water cooled loop. In fact a few reviews even said a top air cooler was just as good.
Admittedly I have not read any reviews for the H50, just watched a couple of Youtube vids from a few folk that get free stuff to review. I am always cautious of what they say as I get the feeling they do not want to get on the wrong side of a manufacturer in-case the freebies stop.

There is one guy who''s rating system I have worked out, his
"Great Product" award actually means very poor
    "100% Great Product" means Good
"100% Kick Ass Product" means Top of the Range.

No wonder there is a lot of confusion about products with that kind of advice going around.

I am not saying the H50 is a bad cooler, far from it but expectations should be realistic with "All in One cooling kits"

    Re: Returning a H50?

Hexus did a review of the H70 recently, showed the H50 to be pretty much in line with the Prolimatech Megahalems, an air cooler. The H70 wasn't much better either.

Now the pump is making a loud ''buzzing'' noise, ugh.

On the plus side, if it's bust, you might be able to get a refund.

Would a loud buzzing noise be deemed faulty? The last thing I want is to waste money sending it back to the shop and have them tell me it's ''normal''.

You should ask around for owners of the product. Its the best way really.

Mine do audibly buzz, it's the sound of the pump running I believe but it's not particularly loud, you do have to listen out for it - I have three H50s - two in SFF cases.

They're pretty damned good and a lot smaller/less hassle than the bigger air coolers I've used (I have a Megahalem too.) I can't bring myself to fully watercool, I find the concept too frightening!

Do you have quiet fans? if they're loud then they'd most likely drown out the noise, I have undervolted (sub 1k RPM) fans.

I also forgot to mention, it started to click earlier, but that only lasted for about 20-30 mins and then it just stopped. The buzzing still persists though.

    Re: Returning a H50?

The one that's right by my head as I type this has a Noctua and a Scythe S-Flex running in it - both are pretty quiet but they're not undervolted. The side's off currently so I'm aware of the buzzing sound but if you move away from its direct line then I can't hear it. This one does seem to be the noisiest of my H50s though..

    Re: Returning a H50?

I have contacted Scan and have been issued with an RMA number, though one thing is slightly worrying me, it states I will be charged £15 if THEY don't think the unit is faulty, which means I'll be even more out of pocket if the Scan team think the level of buzzing is acceptable. Can anyone reassure me?

Try this You might be alright, few reports of it floating around so possibly a known issue, the Scan guys aren't generally rip off merchants, if it comes back with NFF then maybe think about your next step
