From a faulty 8800GTX to a GTX 460?
Hi guys,
A few months ago my 8800GTX stopped working, causing POST beeps. So I bought myself a 7800GT or something till I could afford a new card that would cope with most games at Full HD on my 24inch Monitor.
I have been looking at the GTX 460 and from what I see it is the mid line card that seems to cope with pretty much everything and anything.
I just wondered your thoughts on this and how will it compare to the 8800GTX.
The card I will be buying on Tuesday will be this. I will most likely buy another one further down the line for SLI.
Thanks,
Mark

It's at least twice as fast as the 8800 GTX in most benchmarks so it'll be a nice upgrade.

May i point out on my SC evga 460 i can put crysis at full settings (no AA) and play it at 1080 on a 23inch lcd....
Yes i would say its all good :)

I would say that is brilliant. Looks like I may have to buy crysis again as it now seems playable.
Thanks for your replies guys.
Re: From a faulty 8800GTX to a GTX 460?
Guys,
I was going to get the 1GB Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 460 OC Graphics Card.
Is this a good choice or can anyone recommend something else?
Cheers

That is indeed a good choice. It comes with a really good cooler and overclocks easily to 800 Mhz on stock volts (at least mine did). It also comes with the best warranty available at the moment. 3 years with Gigabyte which have got a UK RMA centre and the warranty also works of the serial number at the back of the card so if you were to sell it on the person buying it will have no problem raising an RMA.

Hi,
I have had the Gigabyte card for over 2 months now and it is great. Really quiet cooler and has handled every game I have (admitted only on my crappy old monitor, can't afford to buy a new one yet).
Get that card, you won't regret it. :)
Re: From a faulty 8800GTX to a GTX 460?
I ordered it this morning. Hopefully there won't be many delays with the snow but I am sure our local council's have done a good job at clearing the main roads! (sarcasm)...
Thanks again guys!
