MSi GTX 560 - Stock

Hi all, just a quick question on behalf of my girlfriend..
On Thursday (27th) around 7:30pm she ordered the MSI GTX 560
(Edit: Tried to post link to said gpu but I can't post URL's yet)

At the time it said it was in stock. I don't have any screenshots etc but I am 100% sure it said it was in stock, because that was pretty much what made us get it
But anyway, as you can see, it now says available for preorder, and I'm very confused as we expected it to arrive no later than today.

P.S. (I know waiting a few extra days might not seem like much, but the reason we got this from scan was because it was the only place in stock, and we were prepared to pay the £8 for next day delivery. If we've paid this extra money and it doesn't come today then we'll feel pretty damn let down.)

Edit: Please note that the order still hasn't been dispatched, but payment has been processed (stage 2)
Edit2: Also note that in emails it says the order should arrive by the 31st (i.e. today) But I don't see how that's going to happen as it's 1pm and it's still not even awaiting dispatch...

Only, after calling them I found out that they received a massive amount of orders and sold out, so the item's no longer in stock..
They did say that we should get one by Wednesday, which is only an extra two days on top of the original date we were given...
I said I was still unsatisfied due to the fact we'd paid for next day delivery, at which point they offered us a 50% refund on delivery costs
My faith in scan is reaffirmed! hoooray!

hi guys n girls,

long time hexus reader, *really* long time scan customer...

i ordered the LN37607 560 card on the 29th, at the time, it said 'in stock', by the time i'd remembered my passwords and stuff for ordering it'd sold out with an ETA of today (1st) so I thought yeah, i'll go for a q-collect...

sunday night, it changed to ETA today, monday morning i called up to see if it would be ready that day, was told yes. this morning i called up and said will it be ready today, was told yes - i'm about 3rd in a queue of 20-odd and over 50 cards are expected.

1. is 'yes' a default answer nowadays?
2. have i purchased 'vapourware'?
3. is it worth another ridiculously expensive 08xx call tomorrow?
4. the money's been taken off've my credit card immediately - i find that a bit odd given you haven't actually got anything to sell - why not just take like a quid or something to validate the card?
5. how long can you keep a q-collect behind the counter?

thanks in advance... (what a 1st post, eh?)... would like to add that i scan but this is the 1st time i've ever ordered anything that wasn't actually in the shop and it's not been a particularly pleasant experience... really itching to get some dx11 bumpiness going on...

bump. spoke to Neesha (apols for spelling if that's wrong) who i spoke to on monday. doesn't know. promised callback. waiting.

just had an email from David @ scan. due in in the next 24-48 hours. i'll believe it when i see it.

i've asked for him to be a bit more specific so i can actually plan for my q-collect.

edit: can anyone from scan answer my original questions?

site now says 'due on the 7th'... poor. very poor.

trouble is - i'm not going to be around to pick up my q-collect for a good few weeks then - what should i do? cancel? have it delivered to my neighbour? what?

if i cancel - how long will it take you to refund my card? i'm already paying interest on it for the stuff that neither i nor scan have in our possession...

...and what's the point of having a 'support forum' if nobody responds on it?????

That MSI is a popular one for sure. I went for the Gigabyte OC and got it on the 1st from Scan, it's a great card and the cooler is pretty much the same as the MSI one, very nice temps and high performance for slightly cheaper than the MSI.

Personally I'd try and change my order to a different brand if Scan aren't getting new stock very soon.

this afternoon i had an e-mither from a david at scan saying 24-48 hours... site now says eta the 7th... sent them a message saying i won't be around then (mine's a q-collect) for a few weeks and what to do... no response to that either so far.

i remember the halcyon days when scan were a lovely small firm, who knew your name, and gave a monkeys about their customers even after they had their cash from you.

I was pretty much talking to myself out here..

One of the most frustrating things is that scan take payment straight away, ebuyer doesn't take payment till the order's ready. If it was like ebuyer then we could have easily cancelled the order and gone elsewhere, whereas with scan you actually have to wait for the refund to be credited to your account etc etc

Yeah, the website now says it'll be instock on the 7th, it's ridiculous that they don't even contact people to let them know though. :|

I'll avoid scan in future and stick with ebuyer I think.

i'll be using microdirect i think for any future pre-orders/stuff out of stock - you do like the mastercard securecode thing - but they don't charge you till it's been sent out.

last time i think i had a delay like this from scan was when i went from a 386sx16 to a new-fangled 386dx40 20-odd years back. shelley was calling me up every other hour apologising left right and centre to me - and they were only delayed because AMD's fab-plant or whoever was making the boards was having supply difficulties - and he point blank refused to take my money till he gave me the board.

how times and big business change, eh...

i'm ringing round all my friends now to see which one of them can make the hour and a bit return trip for me now to pick mine up - i'll bet you any money (if i had any left) they won't offer to send mine out to me. or if they do - they won't send it next door because it's not the cardholder address.

poor how i see scan employees responding to other threads in here - but ignoring you and me - so many customers now - 2 little folk buying cheapo graphics cards don't matter to them.

at least i haven't got an angry girlfriend on my case like you have :-P

trust me lol i have seen things on the side due on a certain date and its overgone that date by 1-3 weeks.

indeed - it changed to 'today' last night.

mine's a collection - i've emailed david in CS to see what the skinny is. really can't be doing with all his 'promises'.

i'm a sucker for colour co-ordination at the mo (must be old age creeping in) and had my heart set on the MSI flavour - they must be rarer than rocking-horse poo - there doesn't seem to be any in the 'big' places in the UK.

might just cancel and wait till the hubbub's died down and probly get it for like 20 quid less. already dropped by a few quid i see...

poor of scan to avoid us on here - you'd think someone could be bothered for 2 clicks and the letters s, o, r, r and y...

just called scan and got through to david who i've been pestering all this time...

had another load of stuff on a q-collect and that hasn't happened either because of a 'stock error'...

he's just (12:58) said they are due today... mind you - the CS people and the w/site said that a week ago...

the wait continues

if they don't hurry up and at least order-pick something i'll need a delivery van myself when i go to pick everything up...

It's hardly surprising but yep, say's they're overdue now.

Yup, she got through to the same David.

He briefly apologised for the delay, said they were a day overdue and sorry for the inconvenience. That was about it.
Oh, he also said they'd refund the difference in price between what it was when we got it to what the price is now Still that's kinda good I guess. (It fell in price from about £202 to £197)

Ohhh welll, it goes on.
