    Kernel_Security_Check_Failure

    Hey guys,

I bought parts for a computer from Scan, and bought scansurance but it ran out on monday. Recently, my computer has been blue screening a tonne with the error message of "Kernel_Security_Check_Failure" and I'm not entirely sure what to do. It happens when I do specific things such as play certain steam games such as 'Chivalry: medieval warfare'.

Can anyone help me sort this out?

p.s. Sorry if I've posted in the wrong part of the forum.

Did you change anything before it started blue screening? Like a driver update?

    Re: Kernel_Security_Check_Failure

Fresh install of windows is never a bad idea. I had a new build pc that blue screened from new with a graphics driver error. Originally assumed a hardware fault, but it turned out to just be a bad win install.

    Re: Kernel_Security_Check_Failure

Microsoft do have a page on this (they have one for most/all STOP messages):

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...(v=vs.85).aspx

From glancing at those, they all sound like software errors (bad Windows install, driver, corrupted files on harddisk) so your hardware is unlikely to be the culprit.

The STOP message should provide you with more details than just 0x139 Kernel_Security_Check_Failure and you may be able to use those details to find out the reason. Else re-installing Windows should sort it.

You could download blue screen viewer and see if there is any more info:

    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Bleeping Computers have a BSOD guide which might be handy too:

    Re: Kernel_Security_Check_Failure

Are you able to get into safe mode at all? If so go to event viewer and see whats in the 'critical' area of that, might help you diagnose the fault then.

Alternatively reinstall windows and hope for the best
