Re: Brand New Card problems... help!

I have noticed whilst running far cry 3 that my cpu usage went from 1% to 6% only and ram went form 4% to 8%.
    Could this be the problem?
I am sure the cpu usage should be much higher?

    What hardware are you running?

    What PSU?

Something sounds off, my first guess is the card is not getting enough power.

Re: Brand New Card problems... help!

I can't see any reason why the platform you are running should have any issues with that GPU.

It's not something I have expert knowledge of but IIRC that mobo has 7 PCIe slots and then uses lane sharing that reduces the bandwidth on each slot from 16x to 8x or even 4x when multiple slots are being used in 3 or 4 way SLI. I would start by making sure your BIOS has allocated a full 16x bus width to the slot your card is in. Also check that you have located the card in a 16x slot, though even at 8x you should still be getting higher frame rates unless you are running on something like a 4k display where 19fps at maxed out settings might be about right.

Other things I would try are running the mobo with less ram to start with, so assuming you are using 8x8gb in quad channel try it with 4x8gb and also try running the CPU at stock to rule out any possibility of instability caused by the overclock preventing the card from running at full throttle.

The mobo i have has2 plx chips that allow 7pcie 3.0 slots at full x16 lanes so i am a bit uncertain about your statement.
furthermore I have gone into bios i can't find any options for x16 bus width options.
I have dound under northbridge settings pcie 1-7 lanes gen 2 or gen 3? if you know what that is.
I will try with less ram..

Re: Brand New Card problems... help!

I found this on gen 2 vs gen 3, try it on gen 2.

If frame rates are still slow switch to a non overclocked profile and test again.

I read or watched a YouTube video where they talked about some mobos splitting the bandwidth between PCIe slots, but if yours has two PLX chips then that won't apply in your case, but here is a review of your mobo where they explain the PCIe/PLX situation for your mobo, and this might help you understand my crude attempt at suggesting that this might be a factor.

Re: Brand New Card problems... help!

    Gen 2/3 made no difference.
Something odd happened when i resetting my cmos settings i got bsod until i overclocked.
and installing less than 64gb ram doesnt seem to get detected unless i made the orientation wrong.
    ?

Well I am all out of ideas, I'm sorry to say, so unless someone can come up with an answer for you today you will have to wait until someone from Scan's customer services team sees this, which will most likely be tomorrow as they are not open on a Sunday.

Hey, I might be on to something. Please search/ask anyone about this!
After going in to the gamer profile for farcry 3 using notepad and changing d3d from 0 " and then to 1" again after starting game.
I am now averaging 80-90fps at everything maxed at 2560x 1600 everything maxed.
This is the right frames i should be getting. but i have had this problem without my new card.
Please find a fix i will be forever grateful.

Re: Brand New Card problems... help!

Your results for your card are now outperforming a Titan running at 1920x1080 which usually gets around 64 fps on Ultra Quality + 4x MSAA + Enhanced Alpha to Coverage and around 61.2 fps at 2560x1440 at Ultra Quality. I have a feeling that by changing the D3D setting you have actually set the game to run in DX9 mode.

This is a good place to see what sort of results you should be expecting from your Titan and here's a review of the card.

check the core clock of card by running any gpu burn in and see if it goes to specs rating or not

Please note the following, this applies also to 7xx series cards and also Titans:

    http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answe...n-x79-platform

If you have not already updated your motherboards BIOS to the latest version I would suggest doing so.

    Regards
