    Dumbfounded by broken promises

    My first post here and I'm very sad it's not a happier one.

    Back on 10th June, I ordered an EVGA 980 Ti Hybrid. I've been keeping in contact with Scan throughout all the slipped ETA's and fully understand the supply/demand quandary sits with EVGA. I've been patient and hopeful, when pointing out to Scan that the price had dropped, they've promised a refund of the difference when it ships (since I've already paid, I'm not sure why but I can live with that).

    What has really gotten me extremely frustrated is yesterday and today. Both days I've been promised that my order would ship and that stock had been received. Both days, I've been sorely disappointed to have these promises come to nothing.

    While I appreciate Scan are hostages to EVGA shipping them the required goods, I hold Scan fully responsible for what's been a shocking customer experience - both in terms of their relationship with EVGA but especially the last two days.

    I've been a loyal customer to Scan for a long time. I'm seriously doubting making any future orders once my existing ones complete. The trust is nearly gone.

    Don't make promises you cannot keep - this is my only real issue. The rest I can take on the chin. I'm not keen on being giving false truths

    Hi Charli I'm really sorry for the experience you've had. These cards are a nightmare, 110%.

    Could you please post your invoice number and we'll snip it out once we have the details? I'd like to be able to offer some sort of clarity on this for you.

    I understand you've spoken with Liz this morning and that your card will be shipping out this evening - please do let us know if we can be of any more help and again, I'm sorry for the delay incurred from all parties...

    Anyway, enjoy the card and I hope you manage to tweak every last drop of performance out of it.

    OK. I appreciate the explanation Adam gave but would really urge you guys to ensure that all other customers who are in the same boat know the score. I've been in contact with a few and know people are mainly frustrated by the lack of communication. It's being played out on many other forums.

    The worst thing is being told for three days in a row that'd it ship that day. It would have saved a lot of my time and frustration to know about that error which I have to assume happened on Monday, then Tuesday and then again today.

    Adam said he'd phone me on Monday to update me. Hope everything gets ironed out soon.

    Yep that's still the case, Monday is the date we've been advised by EVGA that more stock should land. They also send their apologies through - they didn't anticipate such demand for the cards, I have to say we're the same. In all my years in IT I have never, ever taken as many pre-orders on a GPU!

    It's an interesting one. I wonder what EVGA do in terms of market research in order to gauge demand.

    It looks like the flood gates have opened as stock is turning up everywhere. Fingers crossed the stock lands on Monday and I can get the GPU installed Tuesday. I've another order which is due to ship today so may have a lot of rig building to do

    Lee. This may be cheeky but another way to dampen the blow of this might be to bump my other order (due in today) to Saturday delivery......of course, that's only valid is that comes in on time.

    Just a suggestion if I may; could you not just get a nearest equivalent spec'd 980 or are you constrained to stick to that particular brand. It could be that Scan will assist you with a goodwill gesture if you decide on an alternative.

    We'd have no issue changing out the card to another model for you, but I just think it'd be a shame to have come so far then it makes the wait for nothing if you change the card now... Just my 2p though!

    Thanks Lee. That's exactly my thoughts too. It's a possibility but a lot would need to happen to push me into that space. I've waited 2 months already. Another 2 days ain't gonna kill me
