    EVGA GTX950 Framerate

I recently purchased an EVGA GTX950 SC+ to replace a defective GTX570, however when running certain games, in particular GTA V, the famerates are actually worse than with the GTX570 although the graphics settings are the same. Also in GTA V it appears that the textures are not loading correctly.

I have cleaned out the drivers and re-installed but it is still the same, even when I reduce the in-game graphics setting.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte G41M Combo and the power supply is a Corsair HX620W.

Any advice on what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: EVGA GTX950 Framerate

    Hi,

Whilst the 950 is obviously a newer and technically superior card the 570 whilst being significantly older is no slouch. Remember also that you are comparing an entry level card to what was at the time considered high end. The 570 still has more raw rendering performance and quite a bit more memory bandwidth than the 950.

Obviously ensure that you are using the latest NVIDIA driver, as of this writing 368.39

Finally ensure that your motherboards BIOS is up to date also

    Hope this helps

    Re: EVGA GTX950 Framerate

    Hi Mark

Thank you for your quick reply.

I confirm I am using the latest NVIDIA driver and the motherboard BIOS is the latest available.

Having read your reply and done a bit of googling I think I understand what you mean. It appears I have made a poor choice of card for 1080 resolution gaming. I assumed that the 950 would beat a 570 hands down. Expensive lesson learnt.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Tom

    Re: EVGA GTX950 Framerate

Did you look at any benchmarks before purchasing? I'm with scan, it's a difference of 3 generations however the 950 is still a very low end card, it's like comparing an i7 950 to an i3 4150, the i7 is still pretty solid

    Re: EVGA GTX950 Framerate

Sorry for the delay I missed your reply!

Unfortunately looking at the delivery date I regret that it is significantly beyond the time frame that we would normally accept the return of goods that are unwanted/unsuitable (14 days)

Delivery took place 04/05 and first contact following the delivery was the above post 21/06 so getting on for almost 2 months after.

Sorry that on this occasion we would be unable to accept the return of the goods as unwanted/unsuitable.

If the card does not meet your requirements I could only suggest personally to try and sell the card privately to recover some funds to put towards something that is more of a modern equivalent to your original card. Something like a 970, R9 480 or 1070 depending on what your budget allows.

    Regards
