    Re: Scan Free Shipping

I wonder if they don't do it on Paypal because of paypal fees? They must lost money already through those fees plus giving away free postage on top of that

I wouldn't advise paying for anything with PayPal anyway, your at the mercy of PayPals resolution centre when things go wrong, you have better protection paying sites directly with a credit card.

The thing is, they used to accept it. It's not a major issue, I just wondered why they stopped.

Edit// Always pay with your credit card for orders over £100 for Section 75 protection

I think you only get protection from a credit card company on purchases over £100, although I'm not absolutely sure about that...

Nope. Buying anything using PayPal will revoke the Section 75 protection, it doesn't matter if the credit card used is linked to PayPal.

Credit card purchases over £100 direct to the seller give the consumer extra protection but this does not apply where intermediaries are involved like Pay Pal, Amazon pay, Apple pay etc as you are no longer buying from the credit card company who buy from the store, but from a 3 money agent whose own terms apply

Not true, both @ik9000 and @yippyUK are correct.

Only use PayPal on websites if you absolutely have to or if you are spending less than £100.

    Re: Scan Free Shipping

Looked it up and now edited my comment. Always use your credit card and not PayPal with orders over £100 to get Section 75 protection.

I heard a few years back that people were managing to get double protection with PayPal and their credit cards but that certainly isn't the case now

for section 75 to apply you must pay at least £100 direct to the seller via your credit card. However, you do not have to pay all the amount, so long as at least £100 was paid direct via credit card. Therefore you could pay £100 via credit card and the rest via pay pal and end up with two avenues to pursue if things don't work out, however pay pal will likely not cover the £100 not through their system, whereas you have a right to claim against the credit card for the whole lot apparently - not sure how or why that works but apparently that's how it does.

It's worked for me too, thanks for fixing this!

Hate to sound ungrateful but apparently there's a issue with the shipping fee adding back on if you use PayPal to checkout.
