    Faulty Radeon X600XT.

    Hello.

I've had many problems with an Ati Radeon x600XT that I purchased from scan.co.uk just before christmas.

    My current set up is;

    60gb Maxtor,
    Pentium 4 2.8 ghz
    Abit Ig-80 motherboard,
    Ati Radeon X600XT,
    Lite on DVD burner.
    512mb DDR3200 RAM.

To be honest, the card has never been truely functional as it should, but with other problems in life it took a back seat. In the last month I have made a resolved effort to get this card operational. With many possible solutions tested.

The problem is this; When playing a computer game such as Jedi Academy or Counter-strike, the game loads up, and then 2-3mins into playing the screen freezes and sound loops. Only resolution to this is to simply turn off the computer and reboot.

Occasionally the computer cannot start up due to repeated blue screens with the error "driver or device failure atidv2.exe stuck in a infinite loop" or simply the monitor going onto standby and not returning to normal screen.

Upon seeing this message I changed my drivers, downloading the newest ones on the ATi website. As this did not solve my problem I first doubted the drivers so downloaded it again to ensure no mess up on download.

As this made no effect again, i tried OmegaDrivers, to no avail yet again.

I have reseated the card in the motherboard in a new case so it fits in 100% correctly and still the error happens, but this time I am sometimes able to ALT+CTR+DEL in game to get out of screen, but by doing this video is unavailbe CPU usuage is quadrupled and generally laggy on screen.

I then tried flashing the card and updating the motherboard bios to no effect.

I have in my defeat turned to a repair man to run tests on the card to which he finds the same results as me and can only put it down to a faulty card, as he ruled out the card not getting enough voltage after tinkering with my settings to no avail.

If you can help me in anyway at all that I havent tried already, please could you. But if not I would really like a new card.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dan.

    Faulty GFX

    Hi,

I would recommend that you copy and paste that information above to the Returns department who I am sure will issue an RMA number for the card once we are back in the office on Tuesday.

The best way to do this would be to log a query through the scan website.

The url for this is below:

    http://web6.scan.co.uk/Support/index.asp

If you have any further queries please feel free to contact me directly

Jusging by the info that has been posted it could be several things tbh.

I presume you have tried the latest ATI drivers for the card and also removed any of the other PCI cards you have installed.

It may also be worth while to ensure you have the latest sound drivers installed if your running on board sound and as a last resort run memtest to ensure there are no problems with the memory in the machine.

If you have tried all these and still have no luck then our technical guys should be able to help further
