Asus A8N SLI Chipset Fan Replacement

Bought the board from you a few months ago, and the chipset fan keeps sticking and it got to the point i could smell cooking hardware today. Was told in this thread to ask here.

    Thanks

just email asus at support@asustek.co.uk and tell them your problem and that you wish for a replacement, they will then send you a ACUK parts request form which you will then put your details in, they should then send you the revised version of the part that has failed on your board

trust me i have been through this process and know exactly what has to be done.

Better still PM me with your Name, Address & invoice details from when you purchased the motherboard and i'll send you a new fan. ASUS are aware of the problems with the old fan that shipped with the orginal boards and have a new one. We have a few of them here & i'll be happy to send you one free of charge

    Thanks

Sorry mate but we only have a limited amount, but obviously you can understand that our priority has to be for our customers, so unfortunatly we can only send them to people who have puchased the stock from scan.

    Kind Regards

i really need a passive one, i know asus do one for the intel nf4 version of the amd 939 a8n deluxe instead of the fan, but know one seems to be able to tell me weather it fits, any one know?

hmmm... do you mean A8n-sli premium? it has a few major differences to A8n-sli deluxe... like there is no card for swapping between sli and single card configuration and some other details... which means that the slots are slightly on different places and some capacitors moved to other locations

If in the event this might help save the fan, but a replacement may be inevitable. Its easy to remove the fan as I have done twice. Using a small Philips head screw driver take out the 4 small screws and remove the cover plate. then loosen and remove the 3 smaller screws underneath the fan blades rotating the blade for each removal. Unplug the fan motor from the socket carefully and remove the fan. Turn the fan over and peel the back sticker just enough to exposing the rear of the shaft (the ASUS sticker is the front and should be left alone) Carefully place one drop of 3 in 1 oil or turbine oil on the exposed back of the shaft then rotate the blade a few times before replacing the sticker and reinstall the fan motor back onto the chipset. Carefully screw the fan assembly back into place using the three smaller screws. Use light pressure to prevent stripping out the threads or screws. Carefully replace the chipset cover using the 4 larger screws, also using light pressure. Start up your computer. The chipset fan might be a little noisy at first, but will eventually return to the normal speed of approximately 8000 rpms.
