    6800GT PCI-E Power

    Hi there,

I just received my 6800GT PCI-E board. However, the 6800GT did not come with a power splitter, and of course my PSU does not have a PCI-E connector on it. Where can I get hold of one of these splitters from?

    Thanks in advance.

    Well,

Fantastic service from the boys at KustomPcs. I emailed them after I ordered, and asked for 1st class instead of recorded, as I would not be available to sign. This morning, I was woken up by the postman putting the jiffybag through the door!!

    Nice job Thomas!!

Sadly however, the Abit Fatal1ty SLi board that I purchased at the same time as the 6800GT appears to be a DOA. Error code 0.4. I will keep trying to resurect it over the weekend, but I fear a RMA situation on Monday

Sadly the Mobo is still having problems. I am RMAing it and hope that the next one is more reliable.

You could have gotten this one:
Akasa PCI Express 4 Pin to 6 Pin Power cable adaptor

Yes Mort, I could have got that one, but it would have cost £11.15 ( ) to buy from Scan, and I paid £6.75 from Kustom PCs. The one from Kustom PCs is actually the same Akasa connector. Of course, I could have paid the extra for the retail board and got that plus the DVI - VGA convertors, and the s-video cable, but that is another story....

If you'd bothered to read the PCI-E page, you could have had it cheaper from scan "Please note that these cards DO NOT come with the PCI-E power connection and unless your PSU has this connection you will need to purchase this seperately."

I remember being reminded of this many times before checkout when I bought my X800XT from them

Well, it would seem that after removing the 6800GT my board wants to POST. However, I do not have a spare PCI-E or a PCI card, to test this theory out.

I have been lent a PCI graphics card to test out this motherboard. It is a....

    S3 Savage4 LT with a whole 8MB Ram

Boots up fine with this GFX card. But not with the 6800GT.

I will try and flash the BIOS to 1.6, as this mentions something about DVI outputs being fixed.

This will require a bit of messing about, as my gaming PC does not have a floppy drive at the moment.

I will keep you all informed.

1.7 is out & FlashMenu works perfectly well (just download the .bin locally & use the Update from File option rather than 1 click Update).

The reason for the messing about is that the PC does not have XP installed on it, as it would not initially boot up. I have now messed about with floppy drives, and the BIOS is now at 1.7

However, as soon as I put in the 6800GT, the PC will not boot. Same 0.4. error code. I have asked for an RMA number on the 6800GT, but have had no response yet. (hint hint)

One thing of note is that the 6800GT box had already had the little circular bits of tape broken, and the packaging looked decidedly second hand when I got it. Is it normal to send out previous RMA cards to other customers in the hope that it works for them? Or am I just being paranoid?

6800GT serial number on the box is :- FKH067759
the SCIL number is :- 975754679

Anyone else been intimate with this card before?

    Well,

After an email to Scan on Friday morning, I have yet to receive a RMA number for the 6800GT.

Any chance one of the Scan boys who look at this forum could investigate?

Unfortunately after a bank holiday weekend, it can take a couple of days to catch up with the backlog.

If you pm me your invoice number - i'll see what can be done.
