Dear Scan,
This week I purchased a SN95 shuttle from you (order number: 0709051248). However when I opened the box I found that the shuttle had already been used; the heatpipe/heatsink had thermal paste on it, sticky pads used to hold cables in place were already fixed to the case, scratches on the hard drive/cd caddy etc. Have I been given a refurbished shuttle by mistake? The receipt and product description did not say this was a refurbished product. I know Scan is a great company and I am therefore sure there is a reasonable explanation for this.
Further to this I have had problems with the system after I completed building it. The system will boot correctly if I reset the CMOS before turning the computer on. The RAM, HDD, CPU, DVD drive are all correctly shown and I can install windows. However if I then shutdown the computer and try to boot it, the fans will spin for a second and then stop. The green and red lights will then light up on the motherboard and nothing else happens. According to the manual the right light diagnoses a problem with the graphics card (a 3.3v card being used instead of a 1.5v?).
The graphics card (Crucial Radeon 9700 Pro) seems to work fine when the CMOS is cleared and is correctly identified by windows. Could it be that I have a faulty BIOS chip? Or is it that the CMOS battery is at fault causing my settings specified in the BIOS not to be saved?
Any advice and explanation given will be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Leon
