    Help!!!

Hy guys - I would really appreciate your help on this one....

I have just purchased the following from Scan:
    Asus A8N SLI
    AMD 64 4000
    FX7800 GTX
    Corsair XMS

ok - i have put it all together - boots fine into bios etc - everything looks ok.

When i boot from the XP disk it pre caches all the drivers and then when it goes to boot Windows (i.e. begin installing & formatting HDD etc) i get a BSOD....

Does anyone have any ideas on this. I am running a single 300gb SATA from the SATA 1 slot (recognised fine in Bios)....

I do get a screen on boot up saying press f10 to configure RAID.....

    HELP!!!!!

BSOD refers to virus on the system and checking and f/disking the HDD (though i think that its just the standard wording.....)

    Any ideas?

right - i have tried swapping the hard drives (including IDE) - & the memory....

    Still getting the same error:

    stop: 0x0000007b (0xf898863c,0xc0000034,0x00000000, 0x00000000)

My money is on either the MB or CPU....

Unfortunately, i am going to be unable to get through to tech support while i am in front of the machine due to work restrictions.... any ideas?

Have you loaded the SATA drivers from floppy disk?

When XP setup begins and the screen turns blue, the first message right at the bottom is "Press F6 If you need to install any third party controllers" or something similar.

At this point you need to put in a floppy disk containing the necessary drivers and keep pressing F6. You will be prompted after it's finished copying the rest of the drivers to select what drivers you wish to install.

Thanks. It was my opinion that at this stage that wouldd't be requried as i had tried to install with an IDE drive i knew worked..... I will give it a go this evening though.

On another note, i have just spoken to someone from Scan technical support. He seemed to think it was memory related - regardless fo the fact i had tested all the memory dimms i have in both my new machine and my current machine.... with the tests in my current machine going fine. I can't say i was overly enamored with his assistance, though i will try a mem test this evening as well.

Bottom line - i am pretty convinced the problem lies with either the MB or CPU - Would scan be willing to test these if i sent them back?

Problem solved - RMA has been raised for both the MB & CPU (as they are the most likely cause of the problem....)

    Thanks for your suggestions anyway
