Owned both (Geforce 1, Geforce 3 Ti200, Radeon 9600 Pro, Radeon 9800 Pro, Geforce 6600GT). It really depends which is producing the best chips at the time. The Geforce FX5xxx range was poor and the Radeon was better. With the 6xxx series Nvidia took the lead again.

Not convinced by the results on the new Radeon's....

3DFX. The last cards I had that I actually got on with.

I've now had 3 nvidia based cards in a row (more through avaliability than anything else) and they've all been shocking. I may try ATi next.

Really liking the look of the tripple header matrox card, but it's a little expensive.

whats this doing in the scan forum?

I voted Nvidia since I love my 6800 ultra. Its the first Nv I have ever owned and I am glad I made the switch from ATi

What are they going to be looking for from the graphics card? will they want pure speed and best running of games or pretty looking games?

ATi based graphics pull out really good on FPS and are really good for benchmarking

NVidia based cards make games you place look alot better and still have good speeds whiles playing games

Well i started off with an AGP 6800 Ultra card, playing Everquest 2... the graphics you could not knock what so ever! they were amazing, shiny and very detailed!

I am now runnin an X850XT Plat card and games I am playin do run very nice and smooth but in no way as detailed as my old 6800 Ultra, not that the graphics it gives are bad.. they are amazing! but just not as detailed

    IMO anyways

I think my next card is defo a 7800GTX tho

Voodoo 5 6000. Since my 5500 plays DooM 3 OK, this should do since it's double the power (roughly).

4xVSA 100 chips. Required its own external PSU. 3DFX went down before they where launched. There where 16 and 32 chip versions for pro use aswell.
