Ive ordered a 250Gb SATA300 Hitachi hd rom you and its occured to me, are SATA II compatable cables provided with this HD or with the Asus A8N32-Deluxe motherboard ive also ordered ?

If not id need to add one to my order, can this be done by phone ?

    Thanks in advance.

If the motherboard has SATA or SATA II on it, then ASUS normally provide atleast two SATA cables.

Does your power supply unit have SATA connecters?

You'll get the right cabling with the mainboard.

Thats good to hear, it was one of the things i didnt plan for.

My PSU will also be new and "should" have Sata power cables etc.

The PSU i have ordered is a 580W TAGAN 2FORCE T580-U22, i believe this has all the connections i require for my mobo, hd and gfx card ( 7800gtx )

Don't panic - I had the same problems - my ASUS mb (albeit a year ago) came with SATA data & molex power converter cables! ASUS do go the extra mile.

For the vast majority of the time, your HDD won't reach anywhere near the theoretical upper transfer limit of 150MBps for SATA let alone 300MBps for SATA2. SATA2 is really a future proofing standard.

You'll be fine: I've got that PSU - got more connections than you could shake a stick at - seriously - some may say too many. More than enough for me, any road.

The cables for SATA - are they the same for both SATA I and SATA II or different?
I.e. do they have the same connections, use the same type of cabling?

    Talking

the Sata I and II cables are the same ( just they are turned 180 degrees) so the Sata I cables work and connect to both drives its just Sata II have a better clip so dont keep falling off

So SATA I would work with the 'higher' speeds of SATA II drives?
