    Samsung Spinpoint SP2504C

    Hi I am having a problem with my new samsung spinpoint drive

    I am getting unsually large access times......



    It should be around 13 - 14ms.

    Can someone help me please.

    18ms isn't unusual.

    The states specs are always better than real world performance.

    Drivers tend to affect things considerably as does the extent to which your PCI bus is being loaded - I'm pretty sure SATA shares the PCI bandwith.

    Make sure you have the right SATA or RAID drivers installed for your mobo because that his performance big time.

    Okay, first of all does your motherboard support Sata II? If it does you might want to remove the jumper which limits the hard disk to the 1.5Gbps

    Also your hard disk spec sheet here says the full stroke access time is 18ms.

    Thanks Gorgeous - I guess 18ms is correct then.......

    Why do you say that my drive is running at SATA150? I thought it was at SATA300
