ok thanks, I'm just not sure what to do - I could use this card and if they don't bring anything else out that'll be fine but if in 2 weeks they brought out the REAL extreme edition, where would I stand with Scan? I assume I wouldn't be able to swap it would I

Also if I decide to keep it, who do I contact about COD2?

    Many Thanks

    Hi,

I dare say that in this case you wouldnt be able to return it, even if they are thinking of making one, they havent even started yet so you would be looking at months rather than weeks in any case,

CODII you need PM with your invoice number and i will pass on the relivant people.

    Regards

    XFX 6800GS AGP news

I've been nagging XFX for the last month about this. I'm after the agp extreme version.
The latest email (06 January 2006) I got from them follows:-

    6800GS AGP
Will come out in 2 different flavours:
    - Standard 350MHz core / 1.0 GHz memory [out now]
    - eXTreme clocks to be confirmed [expected in a few weeks]

    6800GS PCIe
Has been launched in 3 different flavours:
    - Standard 425 MHz core / 1.00 GHz Memory [Out now, but almost sold out everywhere and hard to find]
    - eXTreme 450 MHz core / 1.05 GHz Memory [Out now, availability a little better]
    - XXX Edition 485 MHz core / 1.10 GHz Memory [Out now and fully available]

Sounds like XFX don't want to provide any customer service, and SCAN seem to be leading by example. Sold a product in disguise = get it swapped.
XFX want to sell the product (i think!?). I want to buy the product (still!). But there seems to be a bridge between the two options.....

mannie i agree with you the only people that seem to give a s**t over this problem is scan i've been on xfx forums a http://www.xfxforce.com/forums/threa...2686&tstart=15 and they have the cheek to call me a whiner when they are constantly contradicting themselves.ive chose to keep the card as it performs well on my aging system. My only contradiction scan please could u give follow emails, pms on the state of play.I even went back to scan today to purchase new gear this being risky as im a man city fan 2-0 oh noooooooooooooo

A Whiner !! I'm amazed they said that. Some of use spend months saving that amount of money.
I don't know much about legal stuff, but some of the issues consumers are experiencing certainly come very close to being an intention to misled and fall under the consumer protection laws that any company must adhere to if they wish to sell products in the EU.
I will only buy a card under the carfeul guidance of my team of lawyers.

    Guys.

We have a solution here now from XFX that we hope is amicable.

If you can provide us with invoice numbers that you ordered these cards on, XFX have supplied us with some COD2 game packs that we can send to you free of charge.

If you PM either Myself or Steve with the invoice numbers, we will then send the CD to the address the order was delivered to.

    Best Regards,

    hey there.

i also brought a normal xfx6800gs last month.

here's a thread bout my experience:
    http://3dgameman.com/forums/showthre...t=40694&page=2

was labeled on scans website at the time as the Extreme edition £175...and the packaging upto delivery also had the XT sticker on.
but my receipt quoted it as the normal one, and the card itself also operates at the normal 6800gs speed (350core, 1Ghz mem)...plus at the time, xfx website only featured the normal 6800gs.

Lee i sent ya me invoice m8

btw, since the news is that xfx had accidently put a normal 6800gs into the 6800gs Extreme box,

the barcode n decription on the box represents what was supposed to be in it right?
so when the retail scans it it says Extreme edition... yet the wrong (marginally cheaper lower spec'd) card was put in it.

my worry is: Now that i got a normal card, was i actually over charged?

i know product price drops slowly ova time but,
i paid £175 in jan & got a normal card.
tday, the normal card is £165 but the new official Extreme card (overclockers.co.uk) is £175 <-- same as what i paid?

    i dunno. confusing as heck
