More likely no-longer available, as it's been replaced by the FX-60.
We've a small number of the FX-55 available
The original intention of the FX chips was for only one model to be available at any time (although occasionally there are cross-overs...)
understood, just was hesitant about buying fx 60 as "rumor" has it thats its slower....
The single core speed is slower, by 200mhz I think, but essentially the FX-60 is 2 x FX-55's side by side.
You'll see more of a difference when multi-thread software is more readily available (or when using loads of apps )
I'd go for the FX60 over the FX-57 any day. Depends what you intend to do with it though.
Dual core seems to be the way to go, and as soon as there's enough market force, I can see software will really come to take advantage of it.
I can now play CSS, have a video playing on another screen, and have various other bits going on, where ye olde FX55 used to get hammered. Admittedly, I never bothered to overclock, but I saw a big improvement personally.
Who's this for anyway? Looking at your other thread, it would appear:
1. You've got a nice X2 4200, and
2. You're skint
