Is the Tagan quieter than the Seasonic range?

Not according to the chart posted here. The Hyper definitely doesn't look like it was designed with noise in mind... And the result for the Tagan is kinda odd: The "2Force" series start off in a favorable position, but become significantly more noisy once the temperature ramps up (as the vcore is increased). In short, it doesn't scale very gracefully. The "Easycon" on the other hand start off on a pretty undesirable position, but doesn't get much noisier as the temperature increases.

For what it's worth, the concensus at SPCR is that the Seasonic range is the most quiet PSU with a fan. You'll need to go passive at the moment to get quieter.
But just to not sound like a rabid fanboy, I will add that if your system is not silent/near silent, other fans in your case are likely going to cover the noise of some of the alternatives (the Liberty certainly look like an improvement over the Noisetaker for sound).

Yeah i've got a bog-standard belkin surge protector, nice to know that if Culham muck up the national grid or theres another type of surge my precious rig is covered to £50,000!

I have HIPER TYPE R bought this about 2weeks ago (not from scan, try to order 1 from pc world online and pick it up from the store you get it for £59.00 and dont pay any delivery charge)
have had no problems with it at all ,...very stable, good price, looks good , quiet, connections are so easy , you even get a black and silver instruction booklet and a toolcase

I've got both.
Imo if you have the cash & don't have an aesthetic reason (I've got a blue Hiper in a blue Wavemaster) then the Tagan Tg -22 is the better PSU.

Running the 480W varient in an SLI rig with a plethora of SATA drives and its fine and dandy with no issues and is a lot quieter than my previous PSU units.

Good Choice tbh

Most of the System build guys swear by tagan .. so thats good enough for me ..

I went with the Tagan EasyCon 480W purely because I didn't like the vent holes all over the Hiper - sending warm air back into the case!

The fan is extremely quiet - though the PSU as a whole sometimes makes a high-pitched clicking noise which is a bit irritating. Dunno if this means there is something wrong with mine, or if it just normal for a psu (my last one was so noisy I would never have noticed!! LOL)

Can't say my EasyCon 530W has any clicking Mike. It's not just a loose connection from kettle Plug to PSU that is "sparking"?
