Problems Kcorp KLS-5810

hi,

In October I bought a Kcorp KLS-5810 wirless gateway/router from you along with 3 Kcorp USB dongles and a Kcorp PCMCIA card to wirelessly share the internet between the pc's in my house.
It seemed to work fine for a couple of weeks but ever since it has been a nightmare.
Some of the time the wireless is connected but web pages just wont load, others the wireless adaptors just cant get the router to assign a local IP until usually it is powered off and on. Sometimes i can fix it by disabling and enabling the windows wireless zero configuration, but not all the time.
Everyone in my house is haivng problems, also tried a belkin wireless PCI card and is constantly disconnected too.
What i want to know is have you had any previous problems with this router or wireless dongles ?
Its a real pain but we all use/need the internet everyday and I havent sorted it since we dont want to have to live without the internet whilst its replaced.
Any suggestions ?

I have had no experience with kcorp, infact I'd never heard of them until Scan stocked their bits. However, in similar situations I have tried upgrading the firmware and that tends to help. Some routers, although state they support WEP, WPA and all the rest have issues with some adaptors I have found (although maybe the other way around) and I've tried lowering the security (not ideal) down to WEP from WPA, has helped before also.

I couldn't find any firmware for my KLS-5810. I found that taking the top off (maybe fit something less restrictive on top if you're worried about things getting in there) made mine much much much more stable. It used to go 10 hours then reset itself, it now goes about 90-100. Still not perfect but good enough for me.

yea, i had refrained from actually doing anything much about it as i didnt was to have to live without even unreliable net whilst it was replaced.

thanks for the advice stompy. I had considered those options but with the other people in my house making such a fuss about me trying to chage anything its hard to tell them they need to change their security settings.
I had the same problem about the heat with a faulty design Netgear router, with that I had to run an 80mm fan from my case on top of it to make it run smoothly, but fortunately Netgear replaced it with a new model free of charge.

No firmware that i could find either !
I did find for half a day it seemed to run more stable when i switched the wireless channel to 13, but then msnm refused to connect, and then later the whole unit crashed and need a hard reset so i think maybe it just worked better because i had turned it off for 5 mins.

Well got a replacement of exactly the same model router, after being told it would be replaced with one of equal or better quality as is out of stock, but this one is much worse. It wont even connect to the internet, and if you apply WEP encryption it is inaccessible and has to be hard reset, in fact the only thing it can do is apply wpa-psk to the wireless connection all the packaging in the box had been opened and the box was in poor condition, and the wireless connection was named 'dads wireless' or something, so obviously I have been sent a router which has already been returned as faulty, not too impressed.

Anyway, rang up a few hours after it was delivered and it will apparently be collected tomorrow. Heres waiting for a better result with the next attempt

Well the returned faulty replacement was received back and completed processing last friday. Rang up Tuesday to find out what was happening and was told processing was finished and an invoice had been raised whatever that means and something would be dispatched sometime.
Not heard anything so rang up today and was told something of equal or better qulaity would be chosen and emailed to me for approval, but not heard anything all day.
Still waiting !

Any help on this would be great please
