Any ideas before I arrange an RMA?

Hi, I pruchased an XFX 7800GT from scan a while ago and its looking to me like its going to need an RMA. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for anything to try before I arrange an RMA as I am going to a lan party over easter and would really prefer not to be using my laptop for it .

So, the problem: Whenever I play any 3d games I get graphical corruption and if I do not close/alt-tab out of the game the computer shuts down (not even a BSOD). If I alt-tab out just as the corruption is starting the nvidia control pannel reports the temperature to be 72C (I have tried a few times and its allways this value) so it doesn't look like a cooling problem (case temps are reasonable anyway).

    Thanks for any advice.

To be honest when you get graphical corruption you are knackered

Other than try newest forceware drivers and de-overclock (if any) there is not much you can do

You may have no option but to go the rma route

Thanks for the reply, it was what I was expecting, but thought asking was worth a try

Looks like its gaming on the laptop and an RMA for the graphics.

Well I sent it back and have been told there is nothing wrong with it and that I will have to pay a testing fee.

    Really not happy.

Great, thanks for sorting that out

Any idea when I will be getting a replacement or refund/credit (I guess it may be hard to source a replacement xfx 7800gt)

Thanks again for the great service
