    modem in stock?

    Hi

Could someone check that the 56k modem below will be in stock today, if its not i'll give customer service a ring to change the order because i can't really wait much longer to get a modem, and besides i want the mx518 too that i ordered at the same time.

    USRobotics 56/V92 PCI 805661A

Also is it ok to change the delivery address since the order hasn't been shipped? Its due to be delivered to my parents farm, but there may not be anyone there. If there's no-one there would they just leave the parcel somewhere, because the farm is fairly remote and there's no chance of someone running off with the parcel, or does someone need to sign for it? If it needs to be signed for i'll have to change the delivery address to my work address.

    Thanks for your help

    Andy

    Hi again,

since the us robotics modem doesn't appear to be in stock yet, i think i'll change my order. But before i do could someone check that there are 2 of LN10705 in stock for me please. Also I was hoping to use one of the above in a linux machine, do you know if this will be possible, i.e. will i be able to get drivers for it to use with linux.

    Thanks as always

    Sorry for the delay.

We have quite a few of the nexsis speedcom modem's in stock but I've checked the manufacturers website and of course google and cannot see any reference regarding linux support.

Their connexant based by the look of it and support all the standard AT commands.

However, the following website should have some linux drivers for connexant based equipment

    http://www.devidal.tv/~chris/winmodems/dips/roster.html

I was going to suggest http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/ BUT they want you to pay for drivers for full speed

muchos gracias Lee, helpful as always if the modems are connexant, and i have problems with getting linux drivers, i should be able to get help from someone at the company i work at, as connexant provide components for the satellite receivers we work on i think . Or alternatively i could try to write my own, providing i could write the code in c.

    Thanks again

If anyone's interested its possible to get modem driver help from http://linmodems.org/ or alternatively if people buy a modem with an intel chipset (such as the nexus speedcom which i bought), intel provide linux drivers free for anyone to download.

Maybe the above could go on the scan website, incase anyone else wants to buy a 56k modem for a linux machine.

I added it yesterday to the technical tab of the product.
