    Yep Dual core

But not to be confused with Dual CPU compatible, the 200 range would be though.

    the x2 3800+ has a 10x multi but only 512k L2 cache per core
    the 165 has a 9x multi but 1Mb L2 cache per core.

if you don't overclock the 3800+ is probably better & if you overclock on a good rig the 165 is probably better

    right so far ive got

BIO star motherboard, nforce 4 sli mode ect.. the best they do it is, 1 gig of OCZ gold ram and a 6600GT graphics card, would i be better getting the 3800 or the 165 and over clock it?

if both was over clocked, which would be the best

urm, if its a 939 socket motherboard then you have to go for the 3800, if its a 940pin mb its the opteron.

edit, i can't see any biostar motherboard that takes 940 socket SLI, so i'm assuming its a 939 socket, therefore you need the 3800

The 165 Opteron is Socket 939 based now and has been for a while.
