    Another Faulty Gpu!! :o

The gods test a man's faith today!

I can't believe it, its aproximately two weeks that I got my replacement GPU and already its myseteriously stopped working.

Lets backtrack a little bit, first my motherboard mysteriously stops working, then my 7800GT is faulty and now my 7900GT!!

    I just want to cry

Okay, heres the story, wake in the moring turn on PC, everythings fine and dandy, do my usual thing, its time for work turn off PC got work.

Come back from work for my break, turn on PC, screens stay blank both monitors show the "no signal" light then the most dreaded of sounds..."System failed VGA test..."

So thinking the GPU may have somehow overheated and blown its poor core in the time it took to detect the GPU etc. I frantically shutdown the PC buy pulling the cable out, then I began the sniffing for any smell of burning silicon.

But nothing, so I figured it just my pc having a laugh with me. so i turn it on again and the same message then I really started to panic.

I checked for loose cables, checked the PSU was plugged in properly etc checked that nothing had fallen on the GPU (of the metal kind) and wasn't shorting it out (its happened before :s), but alas, nothing...NOTHING :O

I've tried reseatting it, I've tried it in the other PCI-e slot. same thing.

I've heard a lot of bad things about XFX making dodgy cards, I thought that was just ATi hysteria but TWO GPUS? last time I ignore my common sense and go nVidia

Oh man this is the first time I've been close to tears since I was little, I can't believe it!!

Am I THE most unlucky person EVER or what?

I don't know what Scan's poilicy is on double RMA's but all I want to do is play games, not mess people around, I've tried everything and its having none of it.

I think I'm going to go cry to myself now

Iv had multiple xfx cards in the past - all have been pap...theyve either been rubbish overclockers or developed faults - iv now got a generic 'galaxy' branded 7800gtx to replace my old xfx 7800gtx, and this card is a much better overclocker and has been going strong for a lot longer than any of my xfx cards ever did

in short nvidia arent the problme, xfx just dont make great cards IMO... bfg, leadtek or generic pap ftw

    hope you get it sorted!

BeanFro....as ever, you show yaself to be a polite, nice guy thanks for not ranting at the Scan dudes.

I dont think XFX can really make a bad card though....I think you are just double unlucky my friend Those cores for the cards are the same as for loads of other people. It's pretty unlikely I'd say....but either way.....thanks for being so damn nice

I've been raised by my parents to be civil, Scan isn't at fault, no one is at fault really but it seems I'm not meant to be playing good modern games.

Some strange force wants me to die on a diet of CS 1.6

I have to admit i havent been to impressed with XFX, especially after the two cards i have tried in the past few weeks (philipp) knows as i must have been the bain of his life in the past couple of weeks with returns etc... Plus i have noticed there is a lot of complaints on the XFX forums about theyre cards. Its a shame really i dont think i will be buying another XFX anytime soon, Im now using a 7800gtx by pixelview, which seems to now be holding out strong... i sure hope that XFX cards redeem themselves though.

Several XFX cards we have used for customers at work have had issues with the fans, I believe it occured more than twice on the 6600 series, probably GT I believe.
