Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum 7.1

I saw this sound blaster with 7.1 and 5.25" I/O bay on today only (scan code LN8372) and thought it looked ideal for me.
However the description seems to be of an audigy 2, not audigy 2 ZS, and the picture.... well im not sure at all.
Is it really a ZS with a 5.25" I/O bay?

instead of starting a new thread - I'll ask in here.....

I am thoroughly confused by all of the creative cards, some have pro attached somedon;t some are ex some arn't, some are on the creative website, some arn't, so instead of stabbing my eyes out, i'll ask....

I'm looking at these two cards...

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=140731 -Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum 7.1

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...roductID=55731 - Creative Sound Blaster Audigy-2 Platinum eX

    1) Now the first is a ZS variant - what does this "add"?

    2) I want to connect up my digital 2.1 speakers to the card at the back - is this possible with either? - it doesn't appear to be with the standard audigy.

    3) I'm pretty sure on the answer to this one, but just to check...the optical in is at the front of the attached devices?

    4) does the zs version come with an eX part?

    Here's the answers for you

    2) The creative website is showing that the card supports SP-DIF input and output for digital connections so you should be able to connect speakers digitally.

    4) It may well be available as an EX kit, but at the present time we do not have it on our stock systems, nor is there any indication to get it in due to the popularity of the newer X-Fi series.

    Best Regards,

I have also been looking at the x-fi, without any of the additional stuff - figure i don't really need all those additional inputs and its the same price

If you were wanting an optical output, you may want to think about one of the soundcards with a breakout box, but otherwise, you'll be fine with the XtremeMusic edition
